Texas moved its county notification layer from VINE to Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. The Deaf Smith County Sheriff’s official page still points readers toward VINELink, so the familiar name remains useful for recognition. The current search and enrollment action, however, belongs in IVSS-Counties. Existing registrations carried over during the transition, users could be asked to update a password, and calls or texts could arrive through the new provider.

The Texas Attorney General’s official migration notice is shown below. It is the best source for the platform change and the current support route.

The transition matters because old brochures describe an enrollment flow that is no longer current. Search IVSS-Counties for the person and the relevant county source. If Deaf Smith County Jail or the person does not appear, call support or the sheriff rather than assuming either participation or release.

Important: The official state source does not provide a current static county-participation list naming Deaf Smith, so confirm the live feed.

Search Deaf Smith Release Status

IVSS-Counties is designed for a specific-person search. It accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking Number. For a partial-name search, the portal suggests using the first three letters of the first and last names separated by a space. A CAPTCHA helps protect the service. The matching task still belongs to the user, so compare more than a name whenever the screen provides identifiers and an agency.

1. Open the current county IVSS portal. Use the Texas county search rather than an old VINELink enrollment page.
2. Enter the full name or a supported identifier. A Jail ID or Permanent Booking Number can reduce false matches when available.
3. Complete the CAPTCHA and review all plausible results. Compare the person’s identifiers, source agency, and location before opening a record.
4. Preserve the exact displayed status, agency, and time checked. Do not rewrite an “Unknown/Undisclosed” location as release because that label may relate to a pending matter.
5. If there is no result, contact 866-268-8959 or the Deaf Smith County Sheriff at 806-364-2311. Ask whether the county feed covers the person and how to request the jail release record.

A no-result is weak evidence. The portal warns that people who are no longer in custody may not appear, which means disappearance can follow release but does not prove it. It may also reflect a name mismatch, delayed data, a nonparticipating source, or a move to a different custodian. For a named-person release search that needs the jail and court paths as well, use the Deaf Smith County release-record route.

Note: Record the check time because a status screen is a changing notification view, not a fixed historical release record.

Deaf Smith VINELink Result Fields

The current county portal is a status and notification aid. The research confirms its search inputs, but it does not establish a fixed public result schema for every county agency. Read the labels shown on the exact record. Never promise that a release date, destination, charge, or photo will appear when the county feed may not send it.

A released person may vanish from IVSS-Counties. That is why the portal cannot replace a Deaf Smith County Jail admission and release record. The jail record can state the physical departure time, release reason, and destination or receiving agency if those fields are maintained. A transfer is especially important. Leaving the Hereford jail for TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody is not the same as returning to the community.

2. Select the notification or registration control associated with that record.
3. Choose the offered call, text, or email method and enter accurate contact information.
4. Set any preferred-hour or blackout choice shown by the current portal.
5. Submit the registration and save its confirmation. Use the support line if no confirmation arrives or the record cannot be matched.

The current account-registration source shows the present account route in the image below. An account may help maintain contact details, but the live notification workflow controls what is offered for a given record.

Preserving the confirmation gives support staff something precise to trace. A registration may remain active after the person disappears and can provide notice if that person returns to custody.

Deaf Smith Legacy PIN Notices

The four-digit PIN belongs to legacy Texas VINE phone enrollment. Historical instructions told a registrant to create a four-digit PIN, then enter that PIN followed by the pound sign when an automated notice arrived. That step acknowledged the call and stopped repeats. Unanswered legacy calls could repeat for a limited period. It is useful only when troubleshooting an old registration or interpreting an old brochure.

A 2026 user should not be told to create a PIN as the current enrollment step. IVSS-Counties uses the live registration controls, account or password details when applicable, and contact preferences. Existing VINE registrations were transferred, but a password update or new provider identity may be part of the migration experience. If an old notice and the new account do not match, call 866-268-8959 rather than entering sensitive data into an unverified link.

Notification calls and messages deserve the same care as any custody record. Keep the event wording, received time, sender, and registration confirmation. Then verify a claimed release with the sheriff or other custodian. The alert can prompt that check, but it is not the signed release order, jail checkout record, or proof that no other hold exists.

Note: Treat any four-digit PIN direction as legacy material unless the current IVSS screen or support staff specifically confirms it.

Deaf Smith Notification Boundaries

County, state, federal, and immigration custody use separate tools. IVSS-Counties concerns participating county custody and court-status sources. Texas state IVSS concerns TDCJ custody, parole, and mandatory supervision. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal prison custody and may display a RELEASED result. ICE’s Online Detainee Locator covers immigration custody within its own rules. None of those systems certifies another agency’s record.

The county service reports status around the clock but disclaims accuracy, timeliness, and completeness. A physical jail checkout and a portal event may occur at different times. Notification is also not a safety guarantee. Anyone relying on an alert for personal safety should keep direct contact with the responsible official service and use emergency resources when needed.

Federal release is outside VINELink and Texas IVSS. Use the BOP locator for a sentenced federal prisoner, the federal docket and holding agency for a pretrial defendant, or ICE ODLS for an immigration detainee. A BOP RELEASED label means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out federal supervision, a state or local hold, or immigration custody.

The Texas DPS Sex Offender Registry is another narrow post-release source for people who have a qualifying registration duty. It is not a general release locator. A missing registry result cannot show that a person remains confined or was never released.

Confirm Deaf Smith IVSS Coverage

The official Deaf Smith sheriff page and current Texas notification authority point in different eras. The sheriff still uses the VINELink name, while the Attorney General directs county users to IVSS-Counties. That mismatch does not make either source useless. It means the local link should be read as evidence of historical VINE participation, not proof that a current Deaf Smith feed is complete and active.

Confirm coverage in two ways. First, search the live county portal for Deaf Smith County Jail or the specific person and review the source agency. Second, use the support line or sheriff’s number when the source does not appear. Ask whether the agency participates, whether the sought event is among its current notifications, and which office holds the official admission and release record.

This check protects against two false conclusions. A result does not prove that every county event is sent without delay. No result does not prove release.
